How to Fix Login Error by Resetting Server (Mobile)

Goal:

Guide users to resolve the “HandshakeException” login error in the Inistate mobile app by resetting the server settings.

Description:

Some Inistate mobile users may encounter the following error message when attempting to log in:

HandshakeException: Handshake error in client (OS Error: “CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED: application verification failure (handshake.cc:393)”)

Platform: Inistate Mobile App (Android / iOS)
Module: Login Screen
State: Before Login

Steps / Instructions:

  1. On the Login screen, tap the Settings icon at the top left. Select Switch from Inistate.

  2. In the Settings menu, select icon Reset Servers.

  3. Return to the Login screen.

  4. Attempt to log in again with your usual credentials.

Tips / Notes:

  • Resetting the server will refresh the app’s connection to the backend server without deleting any saved data.
  • If the issue persists after resetting, try the following:
    • Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
    • Update the Inistate mobile app to the latest version.
    • Restart your device and try again.
  • If none of the above works, contact Inistate Support with a screenshot of the error message for further troubleshooting.
